Starting Problem

Sent to Car Experts June 08, 2005 9:56 p.m.

96 chevy Tahoe 350 engine. Will not start. Turns over but won't start. If I turn key on 2 or 3 times it will try but will shut off. After a few more times it will start, a littlebackfire then runs great. If I shut off and try to start after a few minutes sometimes it starts on first try sometimes on the second. If let sit for a couple of hours acts like what I explained first. Have tried changing the fuel filter but did not help. Car runs well once started, no miss, back fire or loss of power. I feel it maybe fuel pump losing pressure but pump is over $200 and would like your opionions before spending.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Using a fuel pressure gauge is the way to confirm this. You can hook it up and tape it to the windsheild while you drive. This way you can watch it as it fails.

Thank's for that info, I was hoping for other ideas to check with this problem. I will go back and click accept when I am done with this e-mail. I have a feeling though with these limited answers this web site will $5 you to death. Had recieved more info on other free web sites. But, Thanks again for replying.
