egr/exhaust

My car idles poorly (low and sometimes stalls)and Im getting poor performance at high RPMs. I was told it could be an EGR problem. Also my exhaust pipes rattle something fierce at 2000-3000 RPMs. Are these problems linked?

No, the only symptom that could be linked to an EGR might be the poor idle if the valve was sticking open. It won't effect the high RPM performance. With the rattle you describe, it sounds more like a bad calalytic converter. It may be restricted causing those symptoms but it definately needs some diagnostic investigation to confirm anything like that.
