car transmission question

Sent to Car Experts June 03, 2005 11:05 a.m.

I bought a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer in October of 2002. At about 5000 miles I noticed what I thought was a transmission slip. I told the dealer about this and they could not duplicate the problem. Upon bringing the car to them many times they found the transmission low 2 quarts of transmission fluid. My question is: since they found no leaks and there is no vacuum source to draw this fluid out into the engine, where could the fluid have gone. The dealer stated that transmissinn fluid dissipates. I myself have been in this trade about 24 years including schooling and I was taught transmissin fluid stays sealed in this unit throughout its life. Please comment
