Question

punctured tire: patching vs replacing

Sent to Car Experts May 23, 2005 11:58 p.m.

i just discovered a screw in the middle tread of my tire, Dunlop SP Sport P225/50/ZRR16- the damage is directly in the middle of the tire and presently shows no sign of air leakage. Will I need to replace the tire or is there a chance of patching the damage?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Well as long as the tire tread are still thick and the hole is not along the side wall of the tires it's still good for patching. Have someone check the thickness of the tread and if it is still ok then just have it patch for you.

driving speed is average (generally within speed limits). I am pretty certain that the puncture happened this afternoon and I will be needing to drive the car tomorrow (city speed of 35mph) morning approximately 45minutes- would this eventually cause further damage?
