Is this carbuerated or fuel injected?

Ignore the previous "pay post". It is the same as this and was supposed to be free.

It appears it has to be carbuerated and the most likely cause is a bad accelerator pump in hte carb. At that age many carb problems can arise just from age deterioration and contamination. I suggest you either have that carb rebuilt or buy a remanufactured unit. Replace the fuel filter at the same time.

The problem was the alternator. We replaced it and the car runs great. Thanks.

That came out of left field. Nowhere in your question did you mention ANYTHING about a battery going dead. That would have been a pretty important symptom to mention.

the battery never went dead. just a guess, altenator was only putting out 10 amps, will probably have to work on the carb also.

No, in order for that to be effecting the engine driveability in any way, the voltage would have to drop below 9 volts. Your car will run just fine WITHOUT an alternator as long as you keep the battery charged. If that was effecting the way the car ran, you had to have problems starting it with a low battery. You never mentioned that.
