i had my a/c recharged. The mechanic told me my schrader valve needed to be replaced. Had to order it. He has been in the hospital since. About one week. Will I need to have my unit recharged after having valve replaced?

He will most likely have to drain the system to replace the valve anyway. They make a too to do it while fully charged but it doesn't always work well.

That's not something I can answer from here. That's a question to pose to the person that told you about the problem. They are the only ones that know id they were able to seal it with the cap or not. Sometimes the cap will hold it in and sometimes not.  Obviously there will be a full charge after the repair because discharging and recharging is part of the repair.
