It is advised not to overhaul or repair this motor, because it is made of alluminum, both top end and bottom end. When the motor overheats or runs low on oil, more damage is done than would on a motor with a cast iron block. Therfore, most shops will choose not to do any internal repairs and it's usually the best choice because 90% of them are damaged beyond repairs when tore down and inspected. The cost of the used motor is the best route, and the price does seem reasonable. You can always option to have the motor pulled out and sent to a machine shop for inspection for repair, but if they evaluate it as bad than you'll will have lost the money ina sense for the evaluation.
