I have a 1993 Cadillac Deville. My car idles high and it accelorates on its on while in drive; what is wrong with my Cadillac?

Already Tried:
My husband and I have taken it to a mechanic, and he said it was the distributor, but he also said that wouldn't help with the idling. He also told us that its the Cam sensor, but its inside the distributor. He confused us because he said that the cam sensor is inside the distributor.
