Subject: Headlights don't work

My son also has a 1988 Cadillac Sedan Deville and his problem is the low beam headlamps cut off randomly when he is driving. It appears that his High beams work ok. I notice with the 4 bulb (2L, 2H) that when he has the low beams on just those lamps work, but when he turns on the high beams, the low beam lamps go off and the high beam lamps turn on. Not sure if that is how the system is supposed to work or not. He said he replaced the light switch and that seemed to correct the problem initially, but it has since reoccurred. Also, he said sometimes he can reset by pulling the negative battery terminal off the battery, but this does not always work. Do you have any ideas and/or could you send me a copy of the wiring schematic you said you had. Thanks.
