how do i replace the water pump in my 87 cadillac deville

  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system.

  3. If necessary, remove the fan shroud or the upper radiator support.

  4. Remove the necessary drive belts.

  5. Remove the fan and water pump pulley.

  6. Remove the alternator and the power steering pump (if equipped) brackets, then move the units aside.

  7. Remove the heater hose and the lower radiator hose from the pump.

  8. Remove the water pump retaining bolts and the pump. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces.
