a/c on Buick

The a/c on my 93' Buick Lesabre quit working. The freon seems to be good. The compressor won't kick on to work. The fuses check out good. The compressor did try to kick on but immediately went off. Can anyone give me in idea what to check out next. I also tried to unhook the battery to reset the computer and that didn't help.
