I have a 2002 Buick Ceuntry w/ the 3.1 V-6 w/ 71389 miles on it.   The engine seems to be bogging down when taking off and when it pulls hills. I've changed the trans. filter and fluid and had it put on the computer, It tested fine. The mechanic thought it might be in the eng. It tends to do it more noticable when the air cond. or def. are on. Could it be a sensor of some type? First time we have had any trouble out of this car.

There are two other things that you need to check befroe you can go any further. To eliminate the engine a the problem you should do a compression test. Also you need to check your fuel pressure with a pressure gauge. Do you know if the mechanic checked either of these two things?

Reply to BOBBY's Post: No those were not checked. The car runs fine once it gets up to speed. Just on taking off and pulling hills is where it seems to be bogging down. What would make it lose pressure all of a sudden. Just on take off and pulling hills. When it hits passing gear on hills it pulls just fine.

With that many miles I kind of doubt you would have any major engine problems. The reason I would check the fuel pressure is because the lack of fuel could cause this problem. You may have a fuel pump going bad or a pressure regulator not holding the correct pressure. This is where I would start. Now you can have a sensor problem such as a MAP sensor, but I would check your fuel pressure before anything else.
