i am changing a water pump and gasket on a 1994 buick ...

i am changing a water pump and gasket on a 1994 buick regal custom, i have the water pump off b ut the gasket is really stuck on top the other side of the water pump thats on the car. how can i get it off? scrape it?

scraping with a buttere knife , but not much
