1992 BUICK PARK AVENUE- NEED ADVICE

MY BUICK PARK AVE, (1992- V. 6) WOULD NOT START . WHEN I TURNED THE KEY, ONLY THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND THE BUZZER CAME ON. I PUT A CHARGE ON THE BATTERY AND TRIED AGAIN, SAME RESULTS. A FEW TIMES BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION TO START IT, THE IGNITION SOUNDED SLUGGISH, BUT IT WOULD CATCH HOLD AND CRANK .
ONCE IT STOPPED CRANKING UP, I REPLACED THE BATTERY, SAME RESULTS,JUST INTERIOR LIGHTS AND BUZZER. I THEN REPLACED THE STARTER, TWICE, IN CASE THE FIRST ONE WAS DEFECTIVE, SAME RESULTS.
BEFORE I BUY A NEW IGNITION SWITCH ENSEMBLE, I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS A "SMART KEY", COULD THE KEY BE THE PROBLEM?

Yes it could be. But before u get into all that, lets start with the basics. Lets make sure the batt is nice and strong and then we will go from there. I know u said u charged the battery but it may be bad! Get a voltmeter on the battery when cranking. A fully charged battery is 12.6 volts. DO NOTHING ELSE UNTIL THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED. With the voltmeter on the battery, try to crank the engine over. If the volts drop below 9.6, the battery is bad and needs to be replaced!

Sorry for the miscommication! Yes sounds like a bad ignition switch. U will need to check for power going in and power coming out. If there is power going in, and no power coming out, than it is bad and will need to be replaced!
