I have a 1990 buick riviera 3800 motor,I was in the process of changing the neutral safty switch when I snapped the shifter rod that comes out of the transfer case.How hard is it to replace the rod? Can I get to it by dropping the pan and valve body?

Do you mean the shaft that goes inside the transmssion that the shift lever bolts to?
