Heater Air Conditioning Control Panel

Hello,
I have a 1993 Buick LeSabre with standard heating and A/C controls. The problem is it is very intermittent. Most of the time I have no control whatever. The lights are out and if they are on, it is stuck in one operation only. When it is acting up the A/C compressor is on 100% of the time and I cannot switch between funtions.
My question is this; Would replacing the main control for the heater/AC fix this problem? I really don’t want to, or can’t afford, to have a shop troubleshoot this for me.

Yes it sounds like your heater control head is going bad. This is not uncommen for GM products. You should be able to replace this unit yourself with a just a few tools. This should cure your problem. Check with your local parts houses as some of these control heads are available aftermarket.( not sure about yours)
