Reply to Davo/diablo666's Post: yes the car hesitates around 900 to 1300 RPMS but other wise runs fine..there are other codes too PO 406 EGR Error, PO 401 EGR Flow Failure, PO 361 EST line not toggling, PO 705 and Code PO 629. The car only has 49,000 miles on it and was sitting for a ling time before I have bought it 2 years ago. it ran fine. it even passed Pennsylvania Emissions inspection. I am ready to get rid of it.

I would clear all of the codes and see if they reset. You have in your car what I call the infamous red, white and blue pcm.If you look at your engine control computer you will see red, white and blue connectors on it.They are every prone to failure and have been updated,Replacing the computer with an aftermarket computer may or may not fix the problem if the rebuilder is unaware of the update. If the codes reset I would replace the computer and remember to switch out the prom/mem cal from the old computer. If it were mine that would be the first thing I would have tried on that year.

The Computer was replaced about 5 months ago. The car just quit running..had spark and no fuel. had 36 pounds of fuel pressure. I have reset the code. I have a snap on MT 2500. where do I get the updated computer?

It's actually P1629 and it is almost always a bad computer in my experience. That is a theft deterrent code.If the key was incorrect the engine shouldn't even crank. If it does it should start and stall with that code.Aftermarket computers will not always fix those cars. You may need to spring for a GM rebuilt.Check the ground under the coil/module mounting bracket.Where are you in Pa?If you are close I could lend you a known good test computer.

If you would be willing to come to Natrona Heights to borrow the computer you can try it and see if the idle settles down and the codes go away. One thing to try is to disconnect the idle air control valve and see if the hesitation goes away.Unplug it with the engine at a normal idle and then raise the engine speed up and see if it still does it.
