Question

1994 Buick

Sent to Car Experts July 18, 2005 10:23 a.m.

my 194 Buick Lesabre dies while I am driving. It doesn't give any warning and there doesn't seem to be any particular time, it just dies! I have had it scanned and they couldn't find anything. Any ideas or suggestions?

That's going to make it difficult to confirm a diagnosis. You really need to test for spark, injecter pulse and fuel pressure at the time it is in failure mode, but if it starts right back up that's impossible. The symptoms point toward a crank sensor or ignition module but nothing is for sure there.

I also understand that vehicle has a lot of failures of the computer itself with those symptoms.

just exactly does this mean I need to do? We put a new fuel filter and the mechanic checked the fuel pressure and put a new gas cap and his computer could not tell him anything, we also put new plugs and wires. I'll gladly pay you if you can say what needs to be done to find this problem. The mechanic said he could find anything, but he had it for a day and a half and didn't find the problem. and I really need to know what else to do

I'm sure you would be very happen to have the answer to that for $10 but unfortunately, you have one of the hardest problems to find. I have seen cars stay at a shop for weeks trying to find an intermittant problem like that.. I have given you the 3 most common reasons for that type of failure. Until someone can have the opportunity for that car to stay dead long enough to test a few things, your never going to know for sure. Believe me, your problems have only just begun. You can just try changing some things, but that can get expensive.
