Question

I have a 1990 Cadillac Seville that I took to a mechanic ...

Sent to Car Experts November 11, 2007 10:03 a.m.

I have a 1990 Cadillac Seville that I took to a mechanic shop to have some work done. I wanted some new rims and tires, they put 20 inch rims and tires on it. when i took my car to them my engine was fine and had power, now it hesitates and jerks on acceleration, even after taking the 20 inch rims and tires off. This mechanic shop says I have crank pully problems now. I looked at some tires websites and the largest tire they recomended was 18 inches. i feel the 20 inch rims caused the problems I have along with the fact that they couldn't replace the rear suspension and repair my electrical system. I also asked them to do a complete tune up, but I don't feel they did. What does a complete tune up consist of and what type of machines do you need to do it? I'm trying to gather as much information as i can before i seek legal assistance.

Optional Information:
1990 Cadillac Seville V8

I wanted some bigger tires and rims put on my car, the mechanic put 20 inch tires and rims on the car. My car has no power now and jerks and hesitates while I'm driving. The mechanic says I have bad crank pullies. When i look up tires on some tire sell web sites the biggest recommended tire and rim was 18 inches. I think the heavier rims and tires caused the problem with the crank opullies as well as i believe they didn't do a complete tune up. Can the 20 inch rims and tires cause problems with the crank pullies and other engine parts causing lack of power and hesitation and jerking?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

The bigger tires may cause shift concerns, ABS trouble codes to set but I really don't see how they could affect the way the engine runs. I would have them double check their work as far as the tune-up goes. They may have ignition wires out of sequence, not on the plugs completely or left a harness or vacum hose disconnected. What all that has to do with the crank pulleys I really don't know.
