Hi there,

If you just purchased it, i think thats a real good idea. This way you will know the overall condition, and the service shop can establish a service record for you to follow.

Even though its running fine, they may be able to spot something that should be taken care of for preventitive maintenence reasons. With it being 18 years old, it may have some rubber lines that are starting to deterioate and can be replaced before they fail.

Thanks again and best of luck!

Reply to Virtual Wrench's Post: Well, I guess I should have added some details. I was told that (and some of this is evident), that the convertible top was replaced about a year ago (it looks new), I looked under the hood and saw the new battery and I believe he told me some belts had been replaced.

So will the shop charge me for the check up, do you think?

Doubtfull they will charge for a safety inspection, especially if you are taking it to them for work that will require the car to be in the air,,it wont take much for a good look around. Now, if it was something of a speciality, like checking the engine compression, or running a diagnostic check, i'm sure they will charge for that. But if its running ok, i wouldnt bother with it.
