Question

Did My Mechanic Add to My Car Problems?

Sent to Car Experts November 22, 2004 9:06 p.m.

I have a 1997 Honda Civic. I recently had a laundry list
of repair work done: replaced both front drive axles,
replaced right trailing arm bushing, alignment and
relined front brakes. When I got my car back, I noticed
two things that WEREN’T wrong when I dropped it off...
1. I could feel every bump in the road. Almost as if I
had no shocks at all. 2. It takes a much greater effort
to accelerate the car and have it shift gears (I have an
automatic)- I almost need to push the pedal to the
floor. I’m not car savvy. But I do know that axle is
connected to the transmission somehow. Is it reasonbale
to assume that these new symptoms could be related to
the repair work I had done? Please help me have an
informed conversation with the mechanic who did the
work. Thanks!
