I have a 1993 Pontiac Sunbird Convertible and I need to know:
Is there some kind of switch or relay that goes bad causing the interior lights to stay on?
My mechanic friend took the fuse out so the battery does not go dead, but the problem is: The horn, the convertible top, interior lights and the power door locks do not work without this fuse.
Any help you can give me at this time will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Mary

It sounds like you have a door switch that has failed,or the dimmer switch(for the instreument panel has failed, the door switch are the most likely cause.Remove the door switch in the door jam and connect the two wires together. This will test the switch,if the light goes out then that is the bad switch,if it stays on test the switch on the other door.

Reply to GENE's Post: realized the dome switch was on so I put the fuse back in and it worked great until I got back into the car last night and the lights stayed on again so I had to pull the fuse.
can't find the switch in the door.
I am assuming that it could be the light switch now because I did have to replace the washer unit a couple of months ago.
Thank you so much for your help.
I will release the money for your help.
Have a nice day.
