Hi I was told today by the mechanic who fixed my vehicle 2

Hi
I was told today by the mechanic who fixed my vehicle 2 months ago that I now have bad cylinders and require a new or rebuilt motor. the Service Engine Soon light came on and the car slowed and clicking was heard from the engine.
1. How can my Cyclinders be bad if in his work order 2months ago he said he did the following:
-Head gasket-coolant leak-R&R Cylinder Head
-Replace head set, head bolts, intake bolts & thermostat, change oil & fiilter
