I have a 87' Alfa Romeo that has a few problems. First of all, the brake light and temperature gauge lights come on simulaneously but not all the time. When this happens, the volt/amp meter displays more than 14v on gauge. The head lights will then become brighter.

Secondly, and I don't know if these problems are related, but now it just started to hesitate while driving and sputter and back fire a little. It has lost a great deal of power.

Do you think these are related somehow?   Please give me your best advice.
